Crunch is the perfect storm of bad management and a vulnerable work force. The labor in the games industry needs to unionize. Management in the industry needs to look at why games are able to be completed during crunch periods and not during the regular work flow. Hearing about studios who crunch for years at a time… it makes supporting those games a real ethical conundrum. You want those employees hard work to flourish but you also don’t want to support bad labor practices…it’s tough.
